A week of gifts this has been!

It began on Monday when we received a call from FirstBorn informing that he would begin his new job on Wednesday.  This year has been rough for him, the financial dissapointments many, the responsibilties increased.   I could hear the smile; his tone had lost the stained quality of a week ago.

Beloved came home with a box of beautiful, organic and varied salad leaves and flowers, given to him by a client whose water he is improving.  Have you seen the price of these lately?

A phone call from Chommie, especially to tell how she valued our friendship.  She blessed me with her love, my ears heard and received it like a gentle melody.

The clinics this week were fruitful and the teams were in high spirits.  Our manager smiled, often.

A colleague and friend, who is moving ‘up country’, handed me three brand new uniforms, still in the plastic wrappers.  A boost to my working wardrobe.

This morning, another call – the order has been approved! Yea! After months and months of tendering, auditing, biting fingernails, the years of grooming this client, has paid off and the order number proves that fact.  Beloved’s face appears smoother, the worry line has eased somewhat.

Another call ‘Hey DarlingDee, kom ek stick jou vir lunch’…And I had the best risotto ever at La Campanina.  We talked about all sorts of things, a bit of shop and a lot of personal confidences – gosh, I’ve missed this lovely woman!

And then I’m in the centre of town, looking for a large plastic bucket.

‘ DarlingDee, over here…how are you?!’

Hugs and kisses.

‘My goodness, how the children have grown! We’ve not seen each other in about a year!’

And one of the children tugs at my sleeve and, with a huge smile, hands me a small cellophane bag tied with a thin ribbon.  Chocolates!  Just like that, a sweet offering, out of the blue.

Beloved arrived home, after five hours in the car, his arms laden with surprises.  Olives, olive oil, still-warm olive bread, feta cheese, and, the best of all, an olive sapling!  Oh my! I have been looking for one forever and he had remembered.

And now I sit here, counting all my blessings, naming them one by one, being delightedly surprised by what The Lord has done.
