Spring is in the air

We went for a lovely walk around Signal Hill yesterday and I took some pics.

An old bunker from the war-time.

This is a wreck of a suicide victim, driving off Signal Hill Drive some time last year. It is obviously too difficult or expensive to retrieve the wreck so it'll probably be there forever.

I happened to score a luck from "dead man's car". I drive a Conquest, this is a Tazz... my cubby-hole's clip has been broken for years now and I can't find a new clip. This car's cubby-hole was lying around in the bushes, and voilĂ , it had a clip on!!

And again, Pixel makes an appearance. I played with my new Nokia's camera and the PaintPad feature (writing on-screen with a stylus).

The fog in the winter

Thu 23 Apr 2009, 10:33        2 Comment(s)     Report Abuse
As lovely as it is to live here in summer, it is quite miserable (weather wise) in the winter.

The fog often streams over the neck from the Camps Bay side. This morning I took this photo.

Searching for a Jack Russell breeding partner

Wed 4 Mar 2009, 11:09        7 Comment(s)     Report Abuse

Below are pictures of Pixel, our 8-year old Jack Russell. He's still very much verile and we'd love one of his children before it's too late.

We're looking for a female breeding partner in exchange for one puppy. She, however, must resemble him closely: SHORT legs, tan and white markings only.

Any takers? Contact me, please (via Spaces)! Cape Town area.

Our son and I

Pixel... the light of my life. He was born on 16 December 2000 and shares his birthday with my late dad (coincidence??).

We sometimes speak about the day that he will no longer be with us (when he chases the eternal bone). What a sad, sad day that will be.

No worries, he still has at least 7 years left on Planet Earth, and 7 years to love us and be loved. Hopefully much longer!

Is my Jack Russell fat?

Thu 26 Feb 2009, 08:36        12 Comment(s)     Report Abuse
One of my colleagues remarked that Pixel, our "son" is fat. Sometimes people make the same remark when we're on a walk. We, of course, totally disagree. He's stocky (fris in Afrikaans), and certainly not fat. Perhaps it's the short legs that fool people. What do you think?

The end of an 80-year old tree

Wed 25 Feb 2009, 09:26        2 Comment(s)     Report Abuse
The Parks Board cut down all the Siringa trees in the area since they're "alien". Shame, I can think of more harmful things than 80-year old trees, giving oxygen and shade in our garden.

Apparently Siringas are poisonous!

The cutting begins...

The cutting continues....

And in the end...

Out of the tree stump they cut us this cute little chair with their chainsaw. At least we'll have part of the tree to remember.

We counted the rings in the tree and estimated its age around 80 years.

Sunset on 24 Feb 2009

I took this picture around sunset last night. Unusual cloud formations.

Here's my neighbour, Pieter, waving. Taken moments later. The photo wasn't manipulated. Not sure why my camera gave this sepia-effect.
